Peer Review Process

The peer review process is an essential part of ensuring the quality and integrity of research published in the PAISSANGANG (Publikasi Artikel Teknologi Sains dan Ilmu Terapan). This rigorous review process aims to provide constructive feedback to authors to improve their work and ensure the publication of high-quality research.

Manuscript Submission

Authors submit their manuscripts electronically through the journal's online submission system. After submission, the manuscript is assigned to the Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor for initial assessment.

Initial Assessment

The Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor reviews the manuscript to determine its suitability based on the journal's scope, originality, and overall quality. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's standards or fall outside its scope will be rejected at this stage (desk rejection).

Reviewer Assignment

Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, experience, and the absence of conflicts of interest.

Review Process

Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript within a specified timeframe (usually 3–4 weeks). They assess the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and significance of the research
  • Methodological rigor
  • Clarity and coherence of presentation
  • Appropriateness of references
  • Contribution to the scientific field

Reviewer Report

Reviewers provide detailed reports, including comments for the authors and confidential comments for the editor. They make recommendations regarding the manuscript's publication:

  • Accepted
  • Minor revisions
  • Major revisions
  • Rejected

Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor considers the reviewers' recommendations and makes an editorial decision. Possible decisions include:

  • Accepted: The manuscript is accepted without changes.
  • Minor revisions: The manuscript requires minor changes, and the revised version will be reviewed by the editor.
  • Major revisions: The manuscript requires substantial changes, and the revised version will be reviewed by the same reviewers or new reviewers.
  • Rejected: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal.

Revision Process

If revisions are required, authors are given the opportunity to revise their manuscript based on the reviewers' comments. Revised manuscripts must be resubmitted within the specified timeframe (usually 4–6 weeks).

Final Decision

Revised manuscripts are reviewed by the editor and, if necessary, by reviewers. The editor makes the final decision on acceptance or rejection. If the manuscript is accepted, it proceeds to the production stage.

Production and Publication

Accepted manuscripts undergo editing, layout design, and proofreading. Authors are given the opportunity to review the proofs before final publication. Once finalized, the manuscript is published online and made freely accessible to the public.

Confidentiality and Transparency

All submissions and reviews are treated with strict confidentiality. Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors (single-blind review) unless the journal employs a double-blind review process, in which both author and reviewer identities are anonymized. The journal ensures transparency in the review process and adheres to all applicable ethical standards.
