Abstract

The agricultural sector plays a significant role in the Indonesian economy, given the large population that relies on it for their primary livelihood. Adequate infrastructure, including farm roads, is crucial for success in this sector. The condition of farm roads in many areas is often still worrying. Unsuitable and difficult-to-access roads lead to high transportation costs, delays in product delivery, and economic losses for farmers. This study employed qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation, involving local communities as key informants. Based on the impact of inadequate farm roads, a farm road plan was created to facilitate farmers in carrying out all agricultural activities. The aim was to determine the design and technical specifications in farm road planning. The results of the study showed that the farm road planning process was influenced by the mobilization needs for all agricultural activities and topographic conditions. The farm road was designed with a width of 3.5 meters, a pavement thickness of 20 cm and a slope of 2%. The technical specifications compiled took into account the road width, pavement thickness, slope level, using K-225 quality and the use of local materials to suit regional conditions. This study concluded that participatory planning and adaptive technical specifications are crucial for producing effective and sustainable farm roads.
